About the Author
Sam Shepard was the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of more than fifty-five plays and three story collections. As an actor, he appeared in more than sixty films, and received an Oscar nomination in 1984 for The Right Stuff. He was a finalist for the W. H. Smith Literary Award for his story collection Great Dream of Heaven. In 2012 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Trinity College, Dublin. He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, received the Gold Medal for Drama from the Academy, and was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame. He died in 2017.

Sam Shepard was not only a great actor! Not until recently, did I learn what a great playwright he was. I'm thoroughly enjoying the book so far; and learning a great deal. I can only hope to come somewhat close to Shepard's quality, and skill. He will truly remain an inspiration to anyone who loves plays and writing! Sam Shepard lives on!
Perfect.
My husband and I are amateur improvisers, and we are going on an old-fashioned driving vacation soon. We will use this book to practice our improv. While one of us is driving, the other will pick a character in one of the plays and read a line to the one that's driving. The driver must improvise a response to the line, and then the passenger will read the next line for his character, and so on to have lots of fun and keep alert while driving on long stretches of interstate.

Excellent read,really inspirational and inciteful.
I have always enjoyed short stories from various authors. This one did not disappoint. Always enjoyed his acting, didn't know he wrote so well.
