I am a Christian man who has struggled with pornography and othe sexual issues for most of my life. When I was 38 I finally realized I couldn't get rid of my addiction on my own and I joined a support group. The leader recommended this book and it really did the trick. For the first time I was given the tools to really combat my addiction. The book is meant to be read over the course of 30 days. It has a short 3-5 page chapter to read each day and a short journaling assignment. Each day you focus on another step or tool to help combat your sexual issues. It was what I needed to jumpstart my path toward sobriety. It gives you clear tools and plans to take with you the rest of your life to help combat sexual addiction. I have now been "sober" for over a year and I have recently taken over the leadership of the group that helped me to overcome my addiction. This is an amazing book and I highly recommend it. It should not be done alone however. One of the steps that he outlines in the book is to make sure that you part of a support group. Joe Dallas has a lot of other resources and speaks nationwide. This book by Author Joe Dallas is perhaps the single best resource on breaking a sexual addiction. This is not a secular book; it is written from a purely Christian perspective, and is primarily written for men. From the very first page, it is quite obvious that Joe Dallas knows his subject matter intimately. The introduction to this book very accurately describes the life and mental anguish a Christian man goes through as he realizes he is addicted to pornography, yet desires to be a man of God. Joe Dallas has experienced the deepest depths of sexual addiction and impurity, in fact, he relates how he was sexually abused as a child, and then became addicted to the thrill of numerous, multiple sexual encounters as a teen. He then became a Christian in high school, and thereafter realized the depths of his depravity. He struggled unsuccessfully to break his sexual addiction until he came upon the right protocol to follow, and this is what he presents in this book. Rather than reveal the step by step procedure he has used to liberate thousands of men from sexual addiction, I will only write that if Joe Dallas can overcome his sexual impurity and lead an honorable life, then so can you and I.This book comes at such an opportune time. With pornography so readily available on the internet, the temptation to "look" and explore the perversity of it all is a major downfall for Christian men, including pastors, elders, teachers, etc. No man is immune from this temptation, and it in time virtually every man will face this temptation. Rather than having it become a major stumbling block, one that will rob a man of his peace, his time, his family, and perhaps his job, dignity, and marriage, I believe this book should be on every man's bookshelf.If you have a problem with pornography of any kind, and you consider yourself a Christian, then get this book. I've read numerous books on the subject of attaining sexual integrity. This one is the best I have read because it not only contained all the principles the others had, but it included a systematic plan of action, and one that is practical and yet only takes a small daily investment of time. This is a book that I will recommend to any friends who are looking for help in this area.
Joe Dallas lays it on the line. If you are looking to buy this book, you need it. If you are looking at it for your husband, buy it. This is a no nonsense look at sexual sin, the destruction it causes, and the pathway to sobriety. As Joe states in the book, if you follow this day to day guide, at the end you will have 30 days of sobriety. If your a guy who hasn't seen thirty days in years, pick it up. I bought this book as a gift. I haven't read it myself. But it deals with sexual impurity... And healing. Recovery.
This book is great. I'm still working through it, but I have read several similarly themed books and the author of this book does a very good job of easily and effectively getting to the root of the problem. Once he's done that he sets up a frame work to help get you moving in the right direction and into the "The Game." This is a great book for those ready to get control of their life and start living with integrity in their Christian walk.
Praise God for Joe's courage and commitment to Jesus. This book is life changing. I highly recommend it for anyone struggling with sexual purity.
