Not many veterinarians could survive without Plumbs and while in general the new edition is great, there are times that instead of numbered/bulleted lines, the dose is hidden within lines of text and I revert to an older edition for speed's sake. What happened to clearly bulleted format of past editions? I do like it when cat and dog dose is the same that there are not 2 separate sections.

Jenefer Davies is the Associate Professor of Dance at Washington and Lee University and Artistic Director of the W&L Repertory Dance Company. Her choreography and performance work has toured to Spain, Greece, Scotland and throughout the United States. To do this they must sail eastward, to the Old World (if that sounds familiar then that is because we saw something similar in The Heroes of Olympus series). Now Magnus, Samirah, Alex, Heath, Blitz and the rest of floor 19 sail to Norway to prevent Loki from launching the ship that will allow the forces of the dead and the Giants to begin Ragnarok. They don't get too much help from the Gods because that would make it too easy and then the book would be depressingly short.Riordan's book is as humorous as always. I think my favorite part was the way he described Aegir as a hipster interested in microbrews, stuck in the express line at a Whole Foods because he just wanted to buy his matcha smoothie but ahead of him were tons of individuals who did not respect the sanctity of the express lane. As someone who has found himself in a similar situation at Whole Foods (thought it was Maple Water for me), I found this hilarious. In addition there are hilarious scenes involving giant metal ducks.The book is a great conclusion to the trilogy. Though I wish this were a five-parter and we had two more books with these characters, Ah well, maybe they will appear in some future books as Annabeth and Percy have appeared here. Here's hoping.

The Ship of the Dead was a great conclusion to the Magnus Chase series, however I did think it was the weakest entry of the three books. The first 150 pages or so were just way to convenient and predictable to look pass for a higher rating. This doesn't deter me though from saying this book was loads of fun and exciting. After we got pass the speed bumps of the first 1/4 of the book, Ship of the Dead truly shined. What Magnus Chase does best for me is how it develops its characters. You really got a more in-depth look into all the characters with this final book. Some more then others yes but every character had a spotlight moment. The plot ties up wonderfully but also leaves a door open to continue the series. Rick Riordan never disappoints his readers and if he does choose to continue Magnus' story best believe I will be along for the ride.

I listened for about 2 hours to the audio tape on a long car ride and was so bored, I turned it off and opted for music the last hour of my car trip. Author's Percy Jackson series and follow up series were great, but you can tell what his political views are by reading this book and I just thought it wasn't necessary to include in a children's book. If you believe gender is fluid, then it won't bother you, otherwise, it might just feel annoying and unnecessary.

This is my favorite of the Magnus series. The adventures are a lot of fun. There is a nice little melding with Percy Jackson characters in the beginning. I love the sense of humor. Sarcasm is a great literary tool. There are lots of causes to support in the Riordan books and I like that young readers are introduced to ethical questions and each person's right to individuality - even if I don't always get every character- which is the whole point of all of us figuring out how to share the planet together! The elf and the dwarf remain my favorite characters.

This cover is gorgeous. I got my copy of the book delivered yesterday, on release day, and I cannot get over it. SO PRETTY.Now, onto the book. I love these characters. I want them all as my friends. Just like I did with Percy and Carter and Sadie and Apollo. So basically, everyone is awesome. Happy sigh.The actual story: awesome. I mean, duh. Gotta say, the Greek gods are MUCH better at rewarding heroes, but what Magnus ended up doing was super cool and I LOVE it. Speaking of love...Malex forever! Page 262. :) Crazy smile.Okay, so speaking of crazy smiles, that's all I had on my face these past two days. I read some of this book at school, so hopefully I didn't look too weird. The Ship of the Dead was super cool. Magnus and his friends had to do a bunch of impossible stuff and other kickass things. As always, the various Norse gods, jotun, elves, etc. were present. Good stuff. It made for some humorous and deadly (luckily not to Magnus or his friends) scenes.This book revealed a lot of backstory on the einherjar. Mallory, Halfborn, T.J. It was heartbreaking, and interesting, and funny. I liked this a lot.Oh, and WE SAW PERCY!!!!!!!!!! BADABADABADA!!!!!! Ahem. Anyway, something is happening down in New York. At least according to Annabeth at the end of the book. Also, Percy was there, like I said. He has a little sister, Estelle Blofis. :) :) :) Happy sigh. Squeal. Other noises that occur when Percy Jackson appears and is his beautiful self.So yeah. 5 stars.

Riordan writes wonderful adventure novels for readers of all ages. I particularly like the fact that he shows no hesitation about having characters of different colors, cultures, religions, and sexual orientations, and they work together as one, as friends and partners, instead of enemies. A message the youth of today sorely need. Good job! It's great to see a writer of children's and young adults' novels not shying away from political correctness.

Rick Riordan does again. Smart, accurate, funny, and serious. I have never seen an author nearly perfect this in a while. I have been a fan of his demigod books since The Lightning Thief, though I still hate the movie versions, I have read every book since then and the Magnus Chase books are the best by far. The gods are completely nuts and bizarre, but they are great and well written.The biggest thing I love about his books is that every story has to be read from Lightning Thief and onwards to understand and know every in-joke and character outside the new cast. All the pantheons connect and I cannot wait to see how it will all end. I still don't want to see it all go though. Keep up the great work Riordan.

For example, the section describing the various crystals state why each crystal is useful like Amethysts are used or healing mood and anxiety disorders among other things.My favorite sections are the chapters that describe the various deities sorting them into their various pantheons and how they can assist the mortal that calls them. For example if you have problem that requires clear thinking you might want to consult one of the Gods or Goddesses of Wisdom such as Athena, Brigid, or Odin.Another favorite chapter explores the various paths which Wiccans can follow to use their abilities such as Hedge Witches (who use their abilities to communicate with spirits such as through clairvoyancy or through lucid dreaming) and Green Witches (who use their abilities to help with Environmental causes like healing the earth and gardening.)This is an excellent book not only for those who are beginning their path but also for those on a familiar path to get back to the basics.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.The history of the Wiccan belief system was fascinating as were all the elements of the belief system.The writings about the moon cycles and what they represented were very cool. I didn’t know that wiccans abstain from magical practice during a dark moon.I enjoyed the thorough description of Tarot, having practiced it myself. It was very good and accurate.Reading about the Hellenistic beliefs was cool and comprehensive.There were many things I did not know about in the book too.I had no idea there are so many different types of Wiccans. From Christian Wiccans to Muslim Wiccans.This was a great read with so much information!

Nearly the polar opposite type of a book I would normally reach for, Wicca Spell book by Julia Steyson was a fascinating read. Well written by someone who has great knowledge and understanding about the subject, Steyson does a great job discussing the origin, theory and practice of Wicca in a way that made sense to someone who did not have any prior knowledge on the subject. I had no idea that the Wicca beliefs and ideologies tied back to the Chinese Lunar Wheel. Fascinating! If you’re looking to learn something new, highly recommend this book!

I am very into reading and learning about things that I know nothing about. I have never known anything about this subject and I thought it would be educational. So this this book was a very interesting read. This book is a guide to witchcraft, wicca and magic. This book is informative for a beginner or someone with knowledge on the subject. This book will teach you everything you want to learn about Wicca, spells, and magic. I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in learning about this subject.

"Wicca Spell Book" is a concise, well-written, and seemingly expertly researched introduction to the history, methodologies, and self-centering used in performing rituals and spells. The history portion was especially interesting, as I had no idea that Wicca has its roots in so many of the world's philosophies and nature-based religions (I most enjoyed the sections on Egyptian and Norse mythologies). This is a guide to preparing Wiccan practitioners at the personal level for casting various spells. This is not a kind of step by step cookbook style guide to casting spells; rather it is an introduction to different tools used in Wiccan practices, including crystals, circle drawings, and the balancing of chakras, among others. The section on using salts and bath bombs was very fascinating, as well as the portion relating to the utilization of moon phases. The book also delves into "finding your niche" as a practitioner; it explains how different personalities and different people use spells differently, and identifies which personality types are more adept at different types of casting. A more experienced Wiccan might not find this particularly useful but it is very interesting as an introduction to Wiccan practices, and worth the cost if you are interested in learning some of the background behind this unique lifestyle.Also of note, in the Kindle edition, it is very easy to navigate through each section of the book.

This is a good beginner's guide to the origins and history of Wiccanism. I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this but it was a good read that I found informative and well written. This was a eye opener for someone that doesn't know the first thing about Wiccans outside of what we think of as stereotypical witches. What I liked is that this gave me a better understanding of those who practice Wicca or have similar practices without trying to coerce me into becoming one.

I've tried different journals and font like this one for various reasons. 1- it splits the week on 2 pages that don't face each other so you have to flip to see the week in full. 2- there is no space for pace. 3- there is no space for cumulative miles run. Won't buy again.

OK first off I'm a little upset that I got this in the mail unexpectedly as I ordered it some six months ago when it was supposed to ship in a month. But, there it was, so instead of sending it back I figured I would give the book a chance, but at $30+ for a super slim technical book, expectations were high.I was very let down. I know of ZFS, I even played with it quickly one day on OpenSolaris, but I've never used it in production, etc. I've also read a few random articles on it over the past few years, it's had a lot of buzz. Thus I'd say I have a beginner's level understanding of ZFS, but this was still very dry and boring, and lacking on the details. Perhaps I should of read the description more closely, it should read something like this:A quick read and rehash of the ZFS documentation with a few examples and very limited scope. The book does not cover high level design or how things work under the hood, which is the reason I bought the book.I guess the title kind of says it all "ZFS *essentials*"; the essentials are all you will get. If it were $9.00, I'd give it 3 stars, but at $30+ it's ridiculous.DO NOT BUY!

This book serves more as a primer or general introduction to ZFS. A lot has changed with the file system and new features have been added since its publication rendering this title to be outdated. Nonetheless, the reader is introduced to the file system and its general functionality. He provides good tutorials and examples. If you are looking for something more advanced, then the Internet may be a more sufficient guide. The author accomplished his goal by introducing the reading to essential concepts surrounding ZFS.

On a positive note, the book covers exactly what the title claims: the essentials. But, I was expecting something more (purchased online, sight unseen). To be fair, my criticism has more to do with Sun's pricing policy than at the book itself. Perhaps, I live in an archaic, bygone pricing age.This is the book for the administrator who needs a concise reference on how to set up and administer ZFS and how to address common failures, with each (every?) feature described and illustrated in a logical sequence. It includes both the basic and some of the less-frequent tasks (migrating UFS->ZFS pools, patching ZFS boot environments, etc.)It's not, however, a thorough treatment of ZFS. It doesn't cover ZFS internals and implementation nor does it provide a wealth of insight into diagnostics and recovery from disasters other than a high-level treatment of "snapshot" restores and "resilvering" (disappointingly, the screenshot of a "spool status mpool" showing a "degraded" pool in chapter 2.7 refers the reader to the Sun site for what to do and the accompanying text merely echoes that advice!)Oddly, the book doesn't address the use of ZFS with Solaris 10 zones (containers). For that level of detail, one must refer to the ZFS Administration Guide on the Sun web site (no charge). That information wasn't deemed "essential". However, ZFS with Virtual Box as a lab (i.e., practice) environment is demonstrated.So, do I recommend the book? Yes, especially if you can get someone else to pay for it (e.g., your company).

This book is probably not the book you want. It covers the superficial aspects of ZFS and little else. All the information in this book is available free of charge from various web sites. It does not cover any of the internal details of ZFS (such as the on-disk format) nor does it cover advanced administration of ZFS (such as performance tuning).

Even though I've used Solaris 10 with ZFS for years, I had not experimented too much with ZFS root pools. I was surprised to see how thin this book was, but decided to give it a chance... I bought it!I wanted to get more experience with patching root Zpools. The book was right on the mark with it's instructions. I had no problems installing and patching Solaris 10u6 on x86 platform.On a very minor note, there could have been some more info between screen shots, but it was very intuitive nontheless. If patching with a Recommended Patch Cluster you'd use his notes for luupgrade ..... -s /var/tmp/10_x86_Recommended, but if you patch with Sun's Alert_Patch_cluster you'd append the ./patches/ sub-directory to the path, such as: ... -s /var/tmp/10_x86_SunAlert_Patch_Cluster/patches. That took me a few minutes to figure out what was wrong.I look forward to using the rest of the book!Good job Scott! How about a book for ZFS in the "Enterprise". I see little out there about ZFS on Enterprise-class storage. The blogs and instructions cover more on JBOD-like (Just a Bunch of Disks) storage or file-based vdevs for training and such. How about ZFS using large terabyte LUNs on the Hitachi's of the world; and lots of those LUNs too. Any pit-falls or performance considerations one might run into? It may be another short book though since ZFS seems to work quite well out of the box. But hey, some of us like concise short books too.{:-)

This book was able to provide lots insightful information on this file system technology.Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Its very concise and wastes no space...highly recommend it.

Live-Upgrade on snapshots, dynamically resizable storage pools, atomic writes and block level data integrity through checksums... What's not to like?Unfortunately this is not the book you are looking for.This seems to be aimed at the junior level system administrator dipping their toes in the ZFS pool.While the author dedicates three chapters to OpenSolaris and Virtual Box (with screenshots, no less), there is no mention anywhere of ZFS send/receive, the ZIL (tuning it), zdb or running Oracle databases on ZFS.You will be better served by printing out the Solaris documentation and reading the various websites dedicated to ZFS and solaris [...].
